Kebuli is a traditional dish from Indonesia

Kebuli is a traditional dish from Indonesia that is made from slowly cooked lamb or beef in a spiced broth. If you want to make kebuli at home, here is a recipe you can follow:

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg lamb or beef, cut into chunks
  • 2 liters water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 4 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 2 tbsp slivered almonds, toasted

Instructions:

  1. Place the meat in a large pot with the water, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 hours or until the meat is tender.
  2. In a separate pan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until it is softened. Add the garlic, ginger, turmeric, cumin, and coriander, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir the onion mixture into the pot with the meat. Add the rice and raisins, and simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  4. Garnish with toasted almonds before serving. Enjoy!
